Piazza Castello's offices Milan

THE PROJECTS OF FRANCESCO MENEGHELLO ARE ALWAYS A VARIED INTERWEAVING OF STORIES THAT MIX WITH HIS IMAGINATIVE THINKING, HIS SENSE OF EXPRESSIVE RISKS, AND THE CONTAMINATION OF STYLES.

This is also the case in his most recent interior project, the representative headquarters of a financial consulting company in the historic center of Milan.

Two main themes characterize the narrative: on one hand, respect for the understated nature of a bourgeois building from the late 19th century, and on the other, the need to communicate the exclusive and reserved nature of the headquarters. The U-shaped layout of the apartment naturally suggested a rational distribution of activities. In his intervention, Francesco Meneghello multiplied the flexibility of the space, envisioning interconnected environments and making it possible for both operational sharing and attention to client privacy. Despite being part of a comprehensive renovation, the project represents a continuous and multifaceted dialogue with the genius loci, perceivable not only in the reintroduction of some classical elements - the herringbone parquet floors, the plaster paneling on the walls, and the brass accents distributed throughout each room - but also, and above all, in the pleasure of an intimate atmosphere, never loud. The nuances of the dialectical relationship between Francesco Meneghello's design vision and the soul of the place are infinite. Sometimes they are small liberties, sometimes evident contrasts, like the absolute white of walls and ceilings that conceptually distances the apartment from the austere spirit of the context.

The idea of spatiality inspiring the design imagination, understood as permeability of environments and free relationships between objects, promotes dynamics of interaction not foreseen in the original layout. The spaces are defined by floor-to-ceiling glass walls that visually eliminate the division between operational and managerial areas while providing the necessary acoustic insulation. The configuration of light has been designed to meet comfort needs and the expressiveness of formal choices, thanks to the combination of integrated technical lighting systems and ornamental fixtures that, with their poetics, gently attract the attention of those living in the space. The furniture is tasked with interpreting, in a representative and contemporary key, the sober and refined atmosphere that belongs to the tradition of the place. Yet, whether they are custom-made elements or iconic pieces, they tell of a free and open approach to incursions into other worlds. In a welcoming and balanced overall atmosphere, each environment intentionally has its own energy. The reception area, with the monolithic counter made of natural marble like the tables in the meeting rooms, anticipates the uniqueness of the interior project to clients.

At the end of the corridor, the waiting lounge has a domestic dimension thanks to the very few essential pieces and the wonderful view of one of the iconic towers of the Castello Sforzesco, making the brief wait a privileged moment. The meeting rooms, the operational room, and the executive room - favored by direct access - are designed as fluid and permeable environments, united by natural light circulating freely, the rigorous choice of furnishings and materials, and sculptural plants that, with their discreet yet powerful presence, communicate a sense of calm, beauty, and harmony.
